SCCM 2012 Broken Reports

SiteErrorEdited.PNG

So you’ve just finished updating your SCCM 2012 site to SP2 (or R2 SP1) and everything appears to be running great, congrats.  A day later your engineers report that they did not get an email from SCCM from a reports subscription they set up to monitor drive space on servers.  Fair enough, maybe the subscriptions got blown away during the update and you just need to place them back.  So you check on the subscriptions and they are all intact but show errors stating they failed to run there most recent cycle.  Hmmmm, not good.  So you investigate further and check the reports themselves and you get an error similar to the image at the top of this post, basically a “An error occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)”.  Ok, how to proceed.

So a quick fix might be to reload the report server role from SCCM but that will blow away your subscriptions and if you have a lot of subscriptions set up that might not be ideal.  So you start digging deeper and look into the SRSRP.log to check on any errors and attempt to resolve.  Now maybe you get lucky and see some error, in my case at a recent customer site there was no errors in the SRSRP.log.  To resolve this issue we had to run the “mofcomp” utility to re-register into WMI.  See steps below.
  1. Open an Administrator CMD Prompt and browse to the directory where SQL Server is installed.  By default for SQL 2008 it should be “C:\Program Files (X86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared”.  On SQL 2012 the “100” will of course be “110” in the directory path, keep that in mind.
  2. Now run the following command: “mofcomp.exe sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof”.  You should see a result like below.
  3. Once the command completed successfully open up SRSRP.log on your site server, within a few minutes you should start see entries in the log like below.  Basically reports are getting re-imported.

Once this process has been completed and the SRSRP.log has completed going through all reports you should now have success in viewing the reports and the subscriptions should work as required the next cycle.
