SCCM 2012 Windows 10 Driver Import on Server 2008 R2

Ok, so this will be a quick post.  I recently upgraded a customer site to SCCM 2012 SP2 so they can start doing Windows 10.  Once all was looking good we started to add drivers into the newly created boot WIMs.  Now, if you used the Windows 10 ADK then your boot WIMs are Windows 10 based so you’ll of course need to import Windows 10 NIC drivers.  This is where issues were seen.

While trying to import drivers the “DriverCatalog.log” showed errors stating “... is not applicable to any supported platforms.”

After some research we ran into KB article 3025419 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3025419).  Somehow this Server 2008 R2 site server missed a fairly important KB from years ago, more specifically KB 2837108.  We installed the missing update, rebooted the server, and tried to import the Windows 10 drivers into the boot WIM and this time the “DriverCatalog.log” showed success.

When dealing with “legacy” sites it's sometimes best to take a step back and realize that it very well might be missing some important updates to get you by to being compatible with the newer OS’s.  Just something to keep in mind.
